  • Describe how a business can use open-source software (FireFox, Open Office, Linux) to increase their productivity. What are the benefits to open-source alternatives? What are the benefits to Microsoft products? First of all, starting off with definition of open-source software, it is a set of principles and practices that promote access to the production and design process for various goods, products, resources and technical conclusions or advice. One benefit is a open access from other sites another benefit is low cost, quick implementation time and flexibility customization. Benefits of Microsoft word can accelerate shared business processes across organizational boundaries. Thr price in which Microsoft word ranges from is 400 dollars maybe more. Since Microsoft word is included with others in the packet for a small business it would not be really 400 dollars. it can be cheaper. It can be free if it is already installed on the users computer.
  • How can a small-business utilize Goggles services and products to increase their exposure and profits? Small-businesses utilizes Goggles services and products to increase their exposure by using Google Documents instead of Microsoft word and Excel, AdWords, AdSense, Blogger. Google allows free listings for small or large businesses sending a number of buyers to the site to be recognized. A company can use blogger by spreading their ideas to others in the same company or to others that can use a similar idea. Blogger is free and easy to use for entrepreneurs. It is secured with the companies password and etc. For instance, a business blog can be the same meaning as blogger, a corporate tool for communicating with customers or employees to share knowledge and expertise. Blogs are an excellent method to share a company's expertise, build additional web traffic, and connect with potential customers. For small business owners without the time to learn web html or the money to hire a designer/developer, blogging offers an inexpensive method to get your company's name out on the Internet. According to the research, Business blogs provide your small business with a chance to share your expertise and knowledge with a larger audience. A powerful benefit for consultants and knowledge workers.
  • Explain the steps in creating a web site from scratch using a program like Dream weaver from inception to getting the word out after publishing the site online. 1.) Think about the content (pictures, links and colors). 2.) Actually do it with Dream weaver. 3.)Upload it with FTP to a server that is connected to the Internet. Last, spread the word to the people who are interested and make links and etc.Elaborating my steps, as i meant by the first step when you consider creating a website think about the things you enjoy and and title it something about you or what your about. The colors can explain what you are and the type of personality you have. DreamWeaver guides you to making a website with a little help for FTP. In case your wondering, DreamWeaver allows Web developers to generate HTML and JavaScript source code while viewing the site as they work. Instead of spending hours writing HTML tags to code a complex table, the developer can build the table, resize it, and view it exactly as it will appear on a Web page. FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol. That's where FTP comes in, FTP is most commonly used to download a file from a server using the Internet or to upload a file to a server. They can bring out their site by hosting it on the radio, t.v commercials, flyers and MySpace.

What has changed with the book search? According to article, Google Book Search allows you to instantly search the full text of over a million digitized books, but we thought that wasn't quite enough. Now when you search you'll get both digitized book results as well as records for millions of other books that still just exist in the analog world.

Do you think people will still be reading books in 10 years? Why or why not? Just my imagination, but i don't think people will be reading in 10 years because we will have computer worked books that will read for us as we listen. It will pronounce the word and tell the meaning. It can pause when we want to snack on something or do other homework. That's just how I feel.

How long do you currently read online per day (in hours)? How long do you currently read offline per day (in hours)?
I read everyday, On MySpace my comments, messages and sometimes people's about me section. When i write my poems i read them to other people well type. So pretty much, 7 hours a day. Offline i read like 2 hours. I read things on t.v and magazines. I really don't read but it helps as my English say.

What is 'product placement'? Product placement advertisements are promotional ads placed by marketers using real commercial products and services in media, where the presence of a particular brand is the result of an economic exchange
How much does Martha Stewart charge to mention a product on the air? Martha Stewart only charge advertisers about $10,000 for a 30-second spot, as opposed to $18,000 for The View or a staggering $100,000 for Oprah. But if an advertiser spends at least $250,000 total on ads during a season.
Do you think her use of this is hurting her ratings? Yes, according to the article Stewart’s syndicated NBC show, which airs daily at 4 PM, is currently lagging in the ratings.
What do you think of product placement? I think it's ok, i really don't know much about it. If i had more information and others that did it besides Martha i would comment my feelings.

Why Linux is Better?

According to this obviously biased site, when should people stick with windows?

When you want to create on Photoshop then that's where you should Windows because Linux does not have it.

Which are the three compelling reasons to migrate to Linux, according to the web site? Elaborate on each.

  • No viruses. Linux hardly has any viruses, they make it hard to happen. The Apache web server which is a web server is a program located on a remote computer that sends web pages to your browser when you ask for them and is a open software is has the biggest market share which is against Microsoft IIS server. It suffers from less attacks. Linux is apart of it.
  • It's free, Linux is free pf charges. All around the world worked very hard to make a neat, secure, efficient, good-looking system, and they are giving their work away for everybody to use freely. The price for a Windows license amounts to an average of one fourth of each new computer's price.
  • Restarting your computer with Windows can be annoying, so Linux came up with something better. It is only necessary when a part from the heart of the system has been updated, and that only happens once every several weeks. Linux is stable, it runs perfectly well without restarting all the time.

Video games and school

After reading the article i strongly agree with what is being said about children being more enthuisastic about video games and not school. Being that video games involve killing and other non positive events. Now that there is another video game - that's educational. The games now reflects ont he kids attitude and behaviroal habits in school and out in the world. Many kids today thinks the world is like a video game, but its really not. However, the educational games that are being made by professor Sasha Barab can help kids love video games and school. Dr. Joshua Freedman, a neuropsychiatrist at the University of California, Los Angeles, said video games are interactive and can help with spatial concepts.

School !

I , Glenneisha can make school more interesting in learning by having more lunch time with the kids choice of food. Using their phone for important calls for their parents. Less homework assigned and if you come late to school you can make up for it by just getting an accused pass to class. No detentions in my school at all because it doesnt teaches their childs lesson. However, if a student acts up they will be assigned to trade places with the custodian of the school. Dress comfortably everyday no dress code, because school is based on learning what type of clothes you where to school as long as that student is receiving good grades. In adddition, books will be somtimes used but hands on learning is better if a student does it on its own they will learn more then just from a book and more time in lunch will fill up the students belly and they would love to learn.

Is satellite radio going to make it? Will the merger hurt or help the industry? Will the merger hurt or help consumers?

I think so, they are not like other radios that goes directly on commericals. They talk during a song or talk to waste time. On XM radio, they don't go directly to commercials they don't even have commercials its nothing but good music everyone across the world loves to listen to when their on their way to work or a long road trip.

It will help the industry.

It will help, because now their are sports news, music, funny clips and other things. They both have no commericals it overcomes significant regulatory hurdles.

I think she is right because people like William Hung that had no talent for the American Idol and ended up with debut album singing others song. Stupidity leads you to the spotlight but yet people with talent makes its harder to get to the spotlight.

2.) What would you do if someone took a compromising picture of you and posted it on the Internet? Should people have a right to say if they don't want a picture online?
I would be mad at myself for even giving that photographer a glimse of my body because it leads to negative thoughts about me and what I do. I should have every right to have say so in my own picture because its my body my privacy.

3.) Is the "truly private life" an illusion? Why or why not?
No, because your mom can view your private life and things. There is no such thing as private life unless you have your own room thats a private life. Comparing then from today, private life was an illusion today your life is not private you commit a crime everythign abouy you is being noatble for others to view. Paparazzi does not exist to them because they take pictures of everyone and everything.

4.) What does the author mean by the "Creolization of media"?
To render; impose rules and structure, which makes the Creole language completely coherent and expressive, on par with any language. What we are witnessing is the Creolization of media
5.) “Things that were not silly. I tried to make my posts highly stylized and short, about things I would imagine people would want to read or comment on.”- I've wondered this about websites like reddit.com. Could the same be said for newspapers?
No, because newspapers are for news and things about stuff in Miami around Florida to be clear.
6.) When she worked at American Apparel, management posted encouraging remarks on employee MySpace pages." Personally, I find this weird. What do you think?
I think it is weird cool because others can view that you have a great busy life as well as a life on MySpace. Other managers could view the comments and hire her by her previous job, but i agree its sort of weird.
8.) What is your reaction to the article? Did you enjoy it?
Yes, because it teaches me not to take offers like "Oh I'm a model photographer can i take a picture of your amazing body? " scams and etc. So yes I enjoyed it, she really handled it well. She's beautiful and should display her talent and body else where than the internet.

2.) To post things I go on MySpace.com I don't really post things like politically and how I feel just on MySpace to my friends.

3.) The "dot-com bubble" was a speculative bubble covering roughly 1995–2001 during which stock markets in Western nations saw their value increase rapidly from growth in the new Internet sector and related fields. The period was marked by the founding (and in many cases, spectacular failure) of a group of new Internet-based companies commonly referred to as dot-Com's. A combination of rapidly increasing stock prices, individual speculation in stocks, and widely available venture capital created an exuberant environment in which many of these businesses dismissed standard business models, focusing on increasing market share at the expense of the bottom line.

Marginalization means to place in a position of marginal importance, influence, or power: Ex. The government's attempts to marginalize criticism and restore public confidence.

Inarticulate means lacking the ability to express oneself, esp. in clear and effective speech.

It means we are today, experiencing the rise of people who can express themselves properly to people who can't. That's what I think it means in the quote that was posted on the blog.

I think this is extremely true because we have teachers that cannot express themselves properly compared to teachers back in the days that can express themselves properly
